About Janet Ott

Professional Background

I have had several fulfilling, joyful, challenging careers in my 60 years. I started my professional career as a registered nurse and nurse practitioner. After returning from Viet Nam, I switched my focus to psychotherapy and had a private practice for 15 years where I specialized in work stress.

For 12 years I worked for a major training company, facilitating two five-day workshops, "The Pursuit of Excellence" and "The Wall" throughout North America and Hong Kong. It was a privilege to help thousands of people clarify and reach their personal and professional goals. I also had full-time faculty positions for two years at the University of Washington and Bellevue Community College.

My past also includes a rich military career. I had three years active duty in the Army, including one year in Viet Nam in a field hospital. Then came 17 years in the Active Reserve, finally retiring as a Lieutenant colonel in 1993.

In addition to my current business, I have a direct sales business as an Associate with USANA Health Sciences.

I am the main facilitator/trainer for Excellence Northwest, a non-profit professional and personal effectiveness organization in Whatcom County. I currently lead two four-day programs, "Reset for Excellence: Core Strategies for a Great Life" and "Break Thru to Excellence".

Other Passions

My life partner, sharing my home with numerous felines, animal welfare, gardening, any aerobic activity outside (hiking, backpacking, kayaking, nordic skiing, biking, river running, mountaineering), peace and justice issues, buying and reading books, gazing at Mt. Baker and the ocean from my front yard, and the pursuit of lifelong learning.

I am Board President of Sustainable Connections and am very active in my church, The First Congregational Church of Bellingham, UCC.

I truly love my work and want to partner with clients and organizations that are committed to learning, working hard, laughing much and contributing to their community and planet.

I’m passionate about being a catalyst for individuals and groups who want to create extraordinary results and connect their souls to their careers, their businesses and their lives. The purpose of my work is transformation through awareness. I love seeing the lights come on! I hope to transform the process of business communications and facilitate collaboration, connection and healthy relationships.
